PVV-7 Composition

Composition PVV-7 is a homogeneous, non-hygroscopic, gray-colored plastic mass that is insoluble in water and is easily formed into charges of various shapes and weights. PVV-7 is normally used in charges with a soft casing, which, if necessary, can be given various shapes. PVV-7 is manufactured from powdered RDX (71.5% ± 1.5%), PD-4 grade aluminum powder (17% ± 1.5%), and a special plasticizer (11.5% ± 1.5%, consisting of 3% P-200 polyisobutylene plasticized with GOI-54 lubricant 8.5%) by thoroughly mixing them. PVV-7 is less sensitive to impact, friction, and thermal effects than tetryl; however, it may still detonate when penetrated by a rifle bullet.
