RDG-P Smoke Grenade

The RDG-P grenade is a Russian hand smoke grenade designed to establish a smoke screen for concealment during combat operations by an individual soldier or a small unit in close combat.

It is manufactured in a steel body with a screw-on aluminum cap and a rubber seal, which provides significantly better moisture resistance of the composition compared to grenades with cardboard bodies. The first RDG-P samples were supplied in a polymer body.

To use the RDG-P, the cap must be unscrewed. Pull the cord of the friction mechanism by the ring. Sharply pull out the friction element, thereby igniting the composition. After that, the grenade is thrown.

It should be thrown immediately, without any delay or holding it in the hand, since the steel body heats up quite quickly and strongly.

The RDG-P is a significantly more reliable smoke grenade than the RDG-2. It is in service with various special units, including special-purpose (reconnaissance) units, the Airborne Forces, and the Naval Infantry of the Russian Federation.

It is recommended to use these particular grenades, avoiding variants with cardboard bodies.
