RDG-U Smoke Grenade

The RDG-U grenade (unified hand smoke grenade) is the latest Russian smoke grenade designed to conceal individual servicemen or small units and equipment under combat conditions. It is capable of producing a high-density smoke screen by instantaneously dispersing a large number of burning pyrotechnic elements.

Unlike previous models, this grenade has an increased operating time and is also capable of providing short-term concealment in the infrared spectrum from guided missiles and thermal-imaging sighting systems by forming thermal zones with elevated temperature in the air.

The patent for this grenade was published in 2022; it began entering service with the Russian army in 2026.
