ЕДП (ЭДП)

The ЕДП (ЭДП) electric detonator is designed for detonating explosives by means of electric current. It converts an electrical impulse into heat (via a bridgewire), causing ignition of the primary composition and subsequent detonation. It provides remote, precise, and controlled initiation of the charge.

It consists of a No. 8-A detonator cap, in the open end of which an electric igniter with a platinum-iridium bridgewire is secured by crimping using a plastic compound plug. The wires with plastic insulation are 1 m long.

Old-type electric detonators have a mastic plug and wires with rubber insulation.

The UEDP training electric detonator differs from the ЕДП electric detonator in that it has an unloaded No. 8-A detonator cap casing, on which a white stripe 3–5 mm wide is applied, and there is no drop of ignition composition on the bridgewire of the electric igniter.
