Tactical and technical characteristics of the electric igniter with a platinum-iridium bridgewire
- Bridgewire diameter
- 22-26 µm
- Cold resistance
- 0.9-1.5 Ohm
- Ignition composition
- Potassium chlorate and lead thiocyanate

Electric igniters with a platinum-iridium bridgewire are intended for initiating detonator caps and igniting propellant charges. The electric igniter consists of a bridgewire soldered to the ends of two insulated wires and a drop of ignition composition applied to the bridgewire and covered with a waterproofing layer. To protect against mechanical damage, the bridgewire with the drop is placed in a case.
They are manufactured in two types: in a copper case with a mastic plug and in an aluminum case with a plastic compound plug.
