TM-62P3 Anti-Tank Mine

The TM-62P3 mine is an anti-tank anti-track mine. It is designed to disable enemy tracked and wheeled vehicles. Enemy vehicles are defeated by damaging their running gear when the mine charge detonates at the moment a wheel (road wheel) runs over the mine fuze.

The mine may be emplaced on the ground surface, buried in the ground, in snow, or under water, either manually or by mechanical means (PMZ-4P, VSM-1 helicopter minelaying system). It is not intended for use in GMZ-3-type tracked minelayers.

Since the primary method of employment is mechanized emplacement, the carrying handle is made as a removable harness-type handle of strong green synthetic webbing, fastened with a cylindrical button.

During manual emplacement, the handle is used only for carrying the mine. Before manually placing the mine in a hole, the handle is removed and placed under the mine or taken away.

The mine’s combat service life is not limited. The mine is not fitted with a self-destruct device.

The TM-62P3 mine is one of the TM-62 family. Its casing is made of thick frost-resistant and impact-resistant dark green polyethylene.

A mine fitted with MV-62, MVP-62, MVP-62M, or MVK-62 fuzes is not detected by metal detectors (mine detectors) due to the virtually complete absence of metal components in them. These fuzes are recommended for the TM-62P3 mine, although the mine may be used with all fuzes of the MV-62 family.

The mine itself does not have a target sensor in the form of a pressure cover. The target sensor is only the surface area of the fuze. When the fuze cover is run over by a tank track (vehicle wheel), it fractures along the weakened section, and the cover presses on the intermediate detonator, causing the mine to function.

Coloration

Dull olive-green color. Batches of mines with a pronounced greenish-gray color are also encountered.

Marking

Standard marking, embossed in the polyethylene on the side or upper surface of the casing, containing:

TM-62P3 - mine designation

66-12-75 - manufacturer plant code - batch number - year of manufacture

TGA - filling code.
