The ML-1 mine is a development of the MS-6Shch mine, but its anti-probe sensor is connected to the lock control unit and it has a design similar to the MS-6Shch mine and the same principle of operation. The mine has a weight of 3.2 kg, a diameter of 205 mm, a height of 112 mm, and an explosive charge of 1.2 kg of TNT. The mine is fitted with a self-destructor set for 1 to 120 days.

The ML-1 mine is emplaced in the same manner as the MS-6Shch.
