When used as an anti-lift device for anti-personnel mines, the ML-7 mine is placed underneath pressure-actuated anti-personnel mines of the PMN, PMN-2, PMN-4, PMD-6M type, or similar mines, and when an attempt is made to remove the anti-personnel mine from its emplacement, the ML-7 mine detonates, causing casualties to the enemy. This also results in detonation or destruction of the anti-personnel mine. When used as a booby-trap mine, the ML-7 is emplaced on the terrain so that it is not visible (for example, in a prepared shallow pit), and an object is placed on it that will certainly attract the enemy’s interest and prompt him to pick it up or use it (a weapon, household items, etc.). In this case, casualties among personnel are caused by the blast force of the ML-7 mine itself.

The mine may be emplaced only manually, on the surface or in soil or snow. The mine is not intended for underwater use.
The mine is not equipped with a self-destruct mechanism. The mine is non-removable and non-neutralizable; returning it to the safe condition is impossible.
The detonator is of the safety type, pressure-release action. The minimum weight of the load must be not less than 0.3 kg. Detonation of the ML-7 occurs when the load is displaced upward by 3-5 mm.
Mine detection: metal detectors - less than 40 mm, radio-frequency detectors - less than 50 mm, odorant detectors - 250-400 mm.
Coloration
Grayish-blue, olive, sandy-yellow, yellowish-gray.
Marking
Embossed on the mine cover and is standard (mine code, manufacturer code, batch number, and year of manufacture. Some batches of mines have no marking.
