MS-6M Booby-Trap Mine

The MS-6M mine is intended to destroy enemy personnel during the clearance of minefields using a mine detector.

The mine consists of: a metal control unit, diameter/height 190/125 mm, with an explosive charge of 1.2 kg of TNT; a trip cable; and an anti-mine-detector sensor, diameter/height 340/140 mm, made of plastic, which is connected to the control unit by a cable. When affected by the electromagnetic radiation of induction mine detectors, the relay actuates and closes the mine’s electric firing circuit. The mine has a displacement sensor and detonates if an attempt is made to move it from its position. A self-destruct mechanism with a delay of 1 to 180 days is built into the mine. The mine is emplaced in soil (snow) with a camouflage layer of up to 10 cm. The anti-mine-detector sensor is installed above the control unit. The mine weighs 8.4 kg.

As a rule, MS-6M mines are not laid together with MS-6Shch mines in the same minefield.

MS-6M mines are not subject to disarming. The search for these mines is permitted only with a probe. Operating temperature range: -15 °C to +40 °C.
