The mine incorporates a tilt-type ENI anti-removal device, which detonates the mine when it is tilted by 18°-30°, and an ENO anti-disarming device, which detonates the mine in the event of an attempt to open its cover. The mine is also fitted with a ChMV-60 timing mechanism and a ciphering remote-control mechanism. The timing mechanism detonates the mine at a preset time.

The ciphering mechanism sets the detonator to an encoded armed position for wire control to detonate the mine before the preset detonation time expires.

The mine is connected to the control unit by a 10-meter cable. The control unit is intended for setting the mine for detonation, after which the mine operates autonomously.

The MZS mine is not subject to mine clearance.
