POM-SV Cluster Mine

The POM-SV mine is a cluster mine designed to create a "harassing minefield". Developed on the basis of the POM-2, it is emplaced in the same manner as the POM-2 using KPOM cassettes. It differs from the POM-2 mine in that it does not deploy any target sensors; it detonates after a specified period of time following activation of the self-destruct mechanism. The cassette contains mines with different self-destruct activation times, creating the effect of a minefield in which mines detonate regularly and no one knows the interval between explosions. They are used for temporary denial of areas of terrain, for example transport hubs, interchanges, stations, and airfield infrastructure facilities.
