Special Manual Minelaying Kits KRM-S and KRM-SO

The KRM-S Special Manual Minelaying Kit is intended to alert friendly forces to the approach of the enemy and to provide short-term containment of personnel at the mine activation site, for rapid minelaying of terrain using the SSM mine, which provides non-lethal effects against enemy personnel and visual-audible signaling of the enemy’s presence at the mine emplacement site. The KRM-SO kit is intended for rapid minelaying of terrain using the SOM mine, which provides visual and audible signaling of the enemy’s presence and illumination of the mine location at night. This is a latest Russian development.

The mine may be emplaced only on the ground and only manually using the URP device, into which the mine is inserted prior to use. Emplacement of mines by mechanized means is not provided for.

These kits were developed on the basis of the POM-2R anti-personnel mine; therefore, they have the same emplacement rules with tripwire-actuated target sensors and have spring-loaded legs to stabilize emplacement on the ground.

Standard, applied in black paint to the mine body and includes:

- SOM - mine code designation.

- 383-РФ-04-17 - manufacturer plant code - country of manufacture - batch number - year of manufacture.
