The mine is emplaced manually on a wooden stake driven into the ground, which is included with the mine set. A second stake is emplaced 4 meters from the mine, and the tripwire is tensioned with slack from the stake to the mine’s release pin. It may be emplaced with two tripwires to two stakes.
The mine’s combat service life is not limited. The mine is not fitted with a self-destruct mechanism. It has no anti-removal or anti-handling devices; however, the very high sensitivity of the MUV fuze (if used) makes rendering the mine safe extremely dangerous. When the MUV-2 or MUV-3 fuze is used, from the moment the safety pin is pulled until the fuze assumes the armed position, depending on ambient temperature, the delay ranges from 3 minutes at +40°C to 59 hours (2.5 days) at -40°C.
The POMZ-2 mine is a hollow cast-iron casting. A 75-gram TNT charge is inserted into it from below. A fuze with an MD-2 detonator is inserted through the vertical channel in the body. The mine body is mounted on a wooden stake.
The following fuzes are used with the POMZ-2 mine: UV, UVG, MUV, MUV-2, MUV-3, MUV-4.

It should be remembered that when mines are emplaced in forests and scrub in anticipation of snowdrifts, they may be tied to thick trees or emplaced on stakes at the height of a person’s chest.
Rendering safe POMZ-2 mines fitted with MUV-2 or MUV-3 fuzes is prohibited! They are destroyed at the emplacement site by sweeping with grappling hooks thrown onto the tripwires from cover.
