The mine is emplaced manually on a wooden stake driven into the ground, which is included with the mine set. A second stake is installed at a distance of no more than 5 meters from the mine, and the tripwire is tensioned with slack from the stake to the mine’s firing pin. It may be emplaced with two tripwires on two stakes in the same manner as the POMZ-2.

The mine’s operational service life is not limited. The mine is not fitted with a self-destruct mechanism. It has no anti-lift or anti-disarm devices; however, the very high sensitivity of the MUV fuze (if used) makes neutralization of the mine extremely dangerous.
When using the MUV-2 or MUV-3 fuze, from the moment the safety pin is pulled until the fuze is armed, depending on ambient temperature, the delay ranges from 3 minutes at +40°C to 59 hours (2.5 days) at -40°C.
The POMZ-2M mine is a hollow cast-iron casting. A 75-gram TNT block is inserted into it from below. A fuze with an MD-2 detonator is inserted through the vertical channel in the body. The mine body is mounted on a wooden stake.
The following fuzes are used with the POMZ-2M mine: UV, UVG, MUV, MUV-2, MUV-3, MUV-4.
It should be remembered that when emplacing mines in forests and shrubland in anticipation of snowdrifts, mines may be tied to thick trees or emplaced on stakes at the height of a person’s chest.
Neutralization of POMZ-2M mines emplaced with MUV-2 or MUV-3 fuzes is prohibited! They are destroyed at the emplacement site by grapnel sweeping, with grapnels thrown onto the tripwires from cover.
