PVV-4 Mixture (Plastit-4)

PVV-4 Mixture (Plastit-4) is a homogeneous, non-hygroscopic plastic mass ranging from light cream to cream in color, insoluble in water, and easily formed into charges of the required shape and mass.

It is manufactured from powdered RDX (78.5% ± 1.5%) and a special plasticizer 21.5% ± 1.5%, containing 25–28% calcined soap plasticized with mineral oil 72.5% ± 2.5%, by thorough mixing. The plastic properties of PVV-4 are retained at temperatures from –30 °C to +50 °C. Plastit-4 has low sensitivity to impact, friction, and thermal effects (its sensitivity is slightly higher than that of TNT). It does not detonate or ignite when penetrated by a rifle bullet. In the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it is used for filling demolition charges, anti-personnel mines, and in the form of 1 kg blocks.
